Miranda Atkinson has worked as a dance teacher for more than 11 years in Oregon, Iowa and Missouri, teaching ballet technique, pointe, variations, contemporary, and lyrical. Primarily focusing on classical ballet, Miranda began her training with Halcyone Ewalt Perlman in Columbia, Missouri and continued training in the summer at Joffrey Midwest, Minnesota Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Stephen’s College, and Pineapple Studios in London. While earning her B.S. in Psychology at Iowa State University, she taught ballet through the Accelerated Pre-Professional Ballet Program at the Robert Thomas Dancenter, serving as the program coordinator in 2005 and 2006. Additionally, she served as Ballet Mistress, and Board Member for the Iowa Youth Ballet, performing with the group and setting choreography on its dancers. She has repeatedly performed as a guest artist with the Iowa State Center’s production of The Nutcracker and Mid-Missouri Dance Theatre. In 2009, she danced professionally with Missouri Contemporary Ballet. Miranda has an M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Sport Psychology, from the University of Missouri and works as the Assistant Director for Student Services in the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon.
